Disease knows NO Color.....

More than 26 million Americans have chronic kidney disease and most don't know it......

To date, there are more than one million people living with HIV......

As of 2010, there are over 12 million people live with a form of cancer......

Today's blog is a bit touchy. I think it's safe to say that the majority of us know somebody who has some type of disease; that could be cancer, diabetes, or even AIDS. The reason for this blog is just as the title says...."Disease knows NO color", in a troubled world that is forever getting worse, it is important that we all form a bond, cause at the end of the day...color doesn't matter.

When my doctors called me with the news that they had found me a possible kidney match…it was the BEST news that I had heard in a long time. After I had surgery, I found out who the kidney had come from, a young lady that died in a car accident. I can’t remember her name, and I have yet to actually meet her family, but I know that she wasn’t BLACK….which was just fine with me. I hated to hear that she had passed away, but God uses EVERYDAY people to do EXTRAORDINARY things. I’m sure when she left home that day; she didn’t know that she wouldn’t return. But look at the lives that she was able to save through the donation of her organs….

The point of this blog…help your fellow man and woman. Just because a person has AIDS doesn’t make them any less of a person. Instead of turning your back, lend a hand. Help those that can’t help themselves. The TRUE way to please God is through your SERVICE…anybody can give money to the church…but what service are you lending to others? Service doesn’t always have to be done in a big way. Service can be a smile, it can be a hug, and it can even be prayer. Just do YOUR part….

At the end of the day, we ALL bleed red blood…blood that was shed for us a very long time ago on an old rugged cross. Be sure to take care of yourself and the others around you. Love somebody, care for somebody…and most importantly…send a prayer up for others, and watch EVERYBODY get blessed….

God Bless....The World Needs More Winners....

.....Winning is not about the amount of money that you have

.....Don't tell your BIG dreams to SMALL minded people

.....Not failure, but LOW aim is SIN

In a time when money is low and jobs are few, it is extremely easy to give up and throw in the towel. Sometimes we get what we WANT, sometimes we get what we NEED, and sometimes we get what we GET. The beauty is that God helps you hang in the race with what you get.

A lot of times, we try doing things our way, thus we fail. But, God will use your let downs to elevate you to VIP status. When I say VIP status; I mean for each person that has hated on you, each person that has let you down, and for each person that has turned their backs on you, God will set you up to the point where your haters have no choice but to see you shine.

Yes, the world does need more winners, but to be a winner, you must do your part. The way to GREATNESS is through your SERVICE. You can’t expect to get ahead and the only person you help out is yourself…it doesn’t work that way. Be careful how you treat others, you never know how God can flip the script and you end up needing the person you step on.

In this journey, there are people who will forever say they are going to be with you and support you, but when the time comes for them to show up…they won’t. And that’s just fine; afterall when all hell is breaking lose in your life, your closer to you VICTORY than what you realize.

In closing, never let your situation be an EXCUSE for not going for your DREAMS. Never let your situation stop you from loving the next man, and never let your situation HINDER God’s work…turn it over to Him…He tends to WIN every time….The GREATER your MOUNTAIN the GREATER your FAITH needs to be. So instead of complaining…start claiming and see how far that gets you.

Done with the USUAL...Plans to go VIRAL aka Video Blogging

It's only so much that one can do from a computer...let the people see your face, let them hear your voice... it makes a WORLD of a DIFFERENCE...

With the progress that I've been able to make in a short period of time, I feel it's only right that I take this book and kidney movement to the next level through video blogging. With the support that I've gained, I realize that in order to reach EVERYBODY, I must expand....granted, I still will do the written blogs, that won't stop. I've been blessed with a vision, which means I have the responsibility of taking the vision of my book on adoption, kidney transplantation, and daily life seriously.

As stated before, sooner or later the Mae Brown Foundation will be under way...but for now, the planned upcoming vlogs will support everything that I have talked about through blogging as well as on Facebook. Instead of words, you will actually see me and hear me. Besides that, I understand that there are only so many people who are seeing my blogs. With the vlogs, more people have an opportunity to see and understand what my vision is. As I've said before....Don't bring you SMALL visions to the BIG God that we serve...when you dream small, you get nothing, you dream big, and you can change the world....

My generation has been deemed as the “lost” generation, as long as I’m breathing, I will do more than my part to make sure that my generation is not lost. Granted, I can’t do it alone, but just know there are more people like myself that are doing whatever it takes to make a POSITIVE change….we are the future

I've been blessed with a brother and sister team that will be helping me with the recording of the vlogs...I won't say their names right now...they will introduce themselves soon enough...if all goes according to plan, the vlogs will start sometime next month. Be on the lookout on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and of course my blog spot and Twitter accounts. I ask you for your support and love…afterall, we ALL have a testimony, it’s all in how you tell it…

Be GRATEFUL 4 Everything!!!!

We struggle...

We fight...

We survive.....

When we make it....we aren't SATISFIED

Happy Wednesday to you all...

All day today the word GRATEFUL has been on my heart and mind. We wake up, we go to work, we go on vacations, we even have the opportunity to bless others. For some reason, it seems that we aren't grateful for God waking us up in the mornings, or Him allowing us grace and mercy on our jobs when half of us know we don't deserve the job that we have. Granted we all get a little down and out at times; it's life and afterall, we all are human. But we can't lose sight of God and where He has brought us from. It's like my mother says..."I might not be where I want to be, but I thank God that I am not where I use to be".

We tend to forget that there are millions of people who are either homeless, jobless, hungry, or sick. When you know what God has done for you, you can appreciate the good and the bad. Funny thing is, nobody wants to go through any storms or rough times. We want everything drama free, but it doesn't work that way. We go through what we go through to make us stronger...afterall God said He wouldn't forsake us. Nobody said that life would be easy. The thing is; you don't have to go at life alone. Be grateful, because there's someone else that's worse off than you, be grateful, because there's someone else who would love to be in your shoes....

Be grateful 4 where you are. U can't expect to be blessed with BIGGER and BETTER when you aren't grateful 4 the SMALLER things. Sure, none of us are were we want 2 b, but how do u expect to get there when you stay negative?? Be grateful, cause God gave you a job, an education, a family, and of course life....So, the next time you think about complaining about what you don't have, take a second and look at what you do have...then drive around and see the many people with signs up asking for food and money...then drive around and see the people lined up to get into a homeless shelter...then tell me your thoughts...

Be GRATEFUL 4 Everything!!!....

We fight...

The Book.....I can't say Thank You enough...

Since starting this book and kidney foundation journey, I have gained a VERY strong support system. When I first thought of writing the book, I had no idea what it was that I had in my hands. The only thing that I wanted to do is get my story out there...to show others that there is light at the end of the tunnel for whatever your dealing with. Although this book is a long way from being completed, I figured I'd give you all a brief update on the progress.

For the record...this book isn't about money, any money thats made will be through the hands and eyes of God. But this book is being done to change lives not only across the nation, but across the world as well. There are so many medical issues out there today, for me it just happened to be regarding my kidneys. For others it can be cancer, AIDS, MS, or even something as simple as a broken arm. The one thing to remember is that God has the finally say so...not the doctors.

Up to this point, the book is coming along well, I'm jumping around from different stages of my life...but nevertheless, the book will be done. Theres nothing like putting your thoughts and feelings on paper...over time, it shows a person's progress in route to the completed project. Besides the book, as you all know...I have the twitter account up and running @kidneykronicles and also the fan page on facebook at Jonathan C. Johnson...check it out, support it, and watch it grow....In the near future, my team and I will start the video blogs, so look for us on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube as we work to bring attention to need for kidney care....

Special thank yous 2.....

LaSonya Nelson, Rachel Smith, Chelsea Diamond, Stephanie Thompson, Author Shakara, Celeste Zachry, my parents Henry and Velma Johnson-Wyatt, and of course you, the people that have taken the time out to follow and support this movement

I love you all

FIRE and DESIRE....don't be afraid of ADOPTION....

126,000 children waiting to be adopted across these United States.....

Not all of them get adopted.....

Their future can easily go up in flames.....

For you all who read this blog, I'm sure you are thinking that I'm a little of base from my previous blogs...but just read along and it will all make sense...I promise....

Adoption is an everyday event, most times children are adopted into families out of foster care and in other cases, children are adopted within their families. The purpose of this blog is to let you know that these kids are diamonds in the rough looking to give and receive all the love that they can. In some situations, these children are labeled as "slow" or labeled as "high risk" based off their past. That's understandable, but no child deserves to go without feeling the love of a mother, the hug of a father, and the support system of a full fledged family.

Yes, a lot of these children come from questionable backgrounds; but with a little compassion, those backgrounds can be cleaned up. Sure, it won't be an overnight process, but with a little faith, time, and opportunity...you never know what you have in your hands. The child could be the next Barack Obama, Bill Gates, or even the next Freddie Haynes. Sure, adoption is an investment...but it's an investment into a life...a life that could easily be lost without you...whomever you might be...

Adoption is for everybody, that I do understand...I'm just asking you to think about it...afterall, if it wasn't for adoption...the PRODUCT that you see before you wouldn't be....so before you write a kid off cause of what other people say...just think about what a world of joy a child can bring to your life...just ask my parents...they can vouch for me lol....

If nobody has told you that they love you today...just know that I do...

"I love you and it didn't start today"

What THEY say YOU can't do....

I'm sure we all have been down this road before...dealing with people who tell us what we are capable of doing and not doing....In a lot of cases the people that tell us what we can't do are the people closet to us; it can be a parent, sibling, or a best friend. It can be a certain type of job, graduating from school, or being a good parent and the list goes on. A lot of times we listen to these people because...afterall they are closet to us, right? Which can easily turn into a problem. In most cases, people misjudge our capabilities based on what they are capable of doing, and in other cases the people who say we can't do things in life just don't want us to elevate in life for the fear of passing them.

The good news is, when it comes to what we do in life...it is US who decides how far we go. For example, after two years of living on this Earth...yes, two YEARS, my parents were told that the furthest  education level that I would achieve would be a high school diploma. What those people didn't realize is that I had a praying mother and father who invested countless days and nights in my future...plus I had a will they would not let up. In other words...when I found out what doctors and others had said...I made it my business to not only graduate high school, but to also graduate from the University of North Texas with a BS in Political Science and graduating from the University of Phoenix with my MBA...

Point if this blog is not to brag....but to let all of you know that whatever YOU want to do in life...YOU can indeed do it...never let another person decide your future or make the moves in your life that you should be making....the worse thing that another person can do to you is to "box" you in according to your short comings...afterall, I was labeled as "slow" because I wouldn't talk much as a child and at times when I would talk...I'd stutter....Funny thing is, God will take your shortcomings, flip them and use them to propel you to your DESTINY....I'm living proof...

Through the WIRE.....

........3 days in ICU

........A month in the hospital

........A month and a half a home recovering

At some point in life, we all go through some type of storm; it might be medical, it might be school related, or even work related...and a lot of times, family related. Whatever storm you go through, just know it's somebody that has been in your shoes at some point. No, this journey we call life is no easy journey. But it's a journey that we don't have to travel alone. When I woke up in ICU...I knew I had indeed had surgery. The pain was so bad that I couldnt really move...but although I couldn't move, I had a mother who could. When I couldn't speak up, I had a mother who could speak for me. When I was crying night in and night out....I had a mother to wipe my tears. The point of this blog....lend a HELPING hand...instead of looking PAST people, look out for them. Imagine if God looked past us when we NEEDED Him the most...how would you feel? We all have a wire to cross through, a bridge to piece together and a river to swim across...but as you do that, NEVER forget the ones who helped you get to where you are now...afterall, we can't survive in this world alone.

"Love, Peace, and Nappiness" spread it!

Under construction....The Mae Brown Foundation...

Since my first blog post, a few people asked me what the plan was for my foundation and what purpose will it serve. The foundation name will be The Mae Brown Foundation...Mae Brown was not only the sweetest lady on Earth, but also my Godmother who meant more to me than life itself. She was my angel when she was living and she is my guardian angel as I travel through life. Because of everything that she did for me up until her death, I've always felt it was only right to name this kidney foundation after her.

Something that people don't realize is that the number one and two leading causes for kidney failure is high blood pressure and diabetes...which are prevalent in the minority communities due to the way we eat, the stress in our lives, and many other reasons. But if we trade the fatback for baked fish and we cut back on our salt intake, it will make a great difference in our lives. Besides, whats the point in having kids and you aren't around to see them grow?

The Mae Brown Foundation will be a gateway to the kidney community in an effort to help anybody suffering with these types of issues through multiple events such as fundraisers, kidney walks, benefit programs, and the list will expand as time goes on. Right now this foundation is a vision...but a vision that I know is reachable. This foundation will indeed do it's best to support each and every positive cause...afterall at the end of the day, the world is bigger than just me, so I know we all need each other. Unitl next time, hugh somebody, tell your family that you love them.

The man behind the vision.....

Jonathan Johnson is my name, 26 year old every day type of guy from Dallas, Texas. Loving life and living it to the max. From the day I was born, I had a purpose on my life. Granted, finding your purpose can easily take years, but God showed me my purpose when I was around 20 years old. That purpose was to help as many people as I can through my testimony as well as the testimonies of others....

The testimony you ask...I was diagnosed with kidney failure in 1999 when I was fifteen years old. Which of course changed my outlook on life. I had to grow up sooner than I wanted to, and I also found myself fighting for my life. It was a long road traveled, but with much prayer and support from my family and friends, I was blessed with a transplanted kidney in 2001 at age seventeen. After my surgery, I knew I had to make a difference in not only my community, but the world as well. To date, I've had my kidney for nine years and some months, and this November 21, 2011 will make TEN years.

Because of my journey, I have decided to write my first book about my life before, during, and after my kidney transplant. This book is for the people who have stood in my shoes. For the people who want to tell their story, but can't. This book is for the people who have held me down and supported my dreams as I attempt to bring change into the world. Besides the book, I will be doing blogs such as this one, along with video logs, a website which is coming soon and starting my own kidney foundation...so lend your support and help me change lives.

"What's 4 U is just that...its 4 U...and nobody can take that awat from you when God's hand is in it...but take note, be greatful for what God has given you and the talents He has BLESSED U with...afterall if you don't use your talents, they tend to get taken away..Rome wasn't built in one day, so don't think SUCCESS comes overnite...stay prayerful and keep working...and SEE what happens...#unspeakablejoy"
